Sonic Echoes is a deep sampled tongue drum that has been "re-amped" through a vintage tape machine.
Captured via a pair of Schoeps microphones into an Audient AS8024 mixing desk and high end out board gear, a lot of care and attention has gone into capturing the tonality of this instrument.
This tongue drum has been sampled with moon gel on neighbouring notes to capture the pure tone of each note, a unique sound that we wanted to capture. In addition to this we have used three mallets to capture three different dynamic layers, hard (glockenspiel mallets), medium (xylophone mallets), and soft (marimba mallets).
