The Nyckelharpa is a Swedish bowed string instrument with keys that change the pitch of the strings. It dates back to at least the 14th century, when it was depicted on a church portal in Gotland. Today, it is considered a national symbol of Sweden and its folk music.
For this sample library we have recorded a modern built Nyckelharpa, designed for extra power in the higher register, in a Victorian concert hall in Manchester, UK, using a wide range of high quality equipment including Schoeps and Neumann microphones, all recorded through an ASP 8024-HE Recording Console.
