A rare Swedish bowed string instrument, recorded solo for composers who need something a violin or cello can't give them. Built for film and game scores that need one unusual, human voice cutting through.
Recorded using a modern-built Nyckelharpa — designed for extra power in the higher register — in a Victorian concert hall in Manchester, UK, through Schoeps and Neumann microphones and an ASP 8024-HE recording console.
What's inside:
Good for: a solo melodic voice that stands out from a string section, folk or period-adjacent scoring, atmospheric pads that don't sound like everyone else's reverb preset.
The Nyckelharpa dates back to at least the 14th century — depicted on a church portal in Gotland — and is Sweden's national folk instrument. This library brings that voice into Kontakt, solo and unprocessed.
